Sammy Stein – Freejazzblog 4/8/23
‘… [an] eclectic jewel box … this is music to dive deeply into.
This is a truly collective – and eclectic – album, everyone gets to solo, and the musicians get to play with each other in a variety of combinations but at the heart of it is the respect to both traditional jazz and improvisation.

There [is] often a discussion between musicians (and reviewers) that asks something like, “if you could put certain musicians together and watch what happened, who would you choose?” On this occasion, I think I might now argue for this particular lineup if you want both a nod to tradition and history of jazz and the joyous revealing music that is free improvisation.’

Ferrell Aubre - Jazzword - 22/11/2023
The album’s journey through various styles …. is a testament to The Brass Monkeys’ mastery of their craft. The musicians’ ability to navigate through different genres while maintaining a coherent musical narrative is remarkable..... It’s a sonic journey.... creating a sound that is respectful of its roots and daring in its execution.

John Adcock – Jazz Journal 14/12/23
[A] variety of influences can be heard in their music, drawing on but not limited to jazz, blues, reggae, folk, country and free improvisation….. There is certainly a nice mix of styles – lilting jazz rhythms one minute, a more military – Elmer Bernstein – feel the next…. I enjoyed the variety and the skill of the playing.
